Prof. Dr. George M. Church is the Robert Winthrop Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School and Professor of Health Sciences and Technology at Harvard and MIT. 

He directs the Personal Genome Project and leads the NIH Center of Excellence in Genomic Science. ​A pioneer in genomics and synthetic biology, Dr. Church developed the first direct genome sequencing method and has significantly advanced NGS technologies, contributing to the development of major sequencing platforms. ​

Dr. Church has authored over 1,180 scientific publications and holds more than 95 patents. His research encompasses genome editing, gene therapy, stem cell engineering, and synthetic biology.He has been instrumental in promoting open-access personal genomics through the Personal Genome Project. ​As a serial entrepreneur, Dr. Church has co-founded numerous biotechnology companies, including Editas Medicine, Egenesis, Veritas Genetics, and Colossal Biosciences, translating cutting-edge research into clinical and commercial applications.
